Diagnosis

How much does BMW diagnosis cost in Nairobi?

A quick code read and a full diagnosis are not the same thing. Here is what you are paying for, and why the cheaper option often costs more.

A code read is not a diagnosis

Many garages plug in a generic scanner, read a fault code and start replacing parts. The problem is that a fault code tells you where the car noticed a problem, not what caused it. A misfire code on cylinder 3 can be a coil, a plug, an injector, a vacuum leak, a worn camshaft or low compression. Replace the wrong one and you pay twice.

What a full BMW diagnosis includes

  • ISTA dealer-level scan. We read the fault memory of every module, not only the engine, with freeze-frame data showing when each fault happened.
  • Live data. Fuel trims, VANOS positions, coolant temperature, boost and misfire counters while the engine runs.
  • Physical tests. Smoke test for vacuum and boost leaks, cooling-system pressure test, compression and leak-down tests where needed.
  • Road test when the car can drive.
  • Written report. Root cause, what is urgent, what can wait, OEM part numbers and a clear quote.

Our prices

A full diagnosis with written report is KES 7,500, plus a call-out fee for your zone (KES 1,500 to 4,000 in Nairobi and surrounding areas). V8, M cars and complex electrical faults are KES 10,000. If you choose us for the repair, we credit 50% of the diagnosis fee against it. A quick scan and consult is KES 3,500.

Why it saves money

One wrong part on a BMW often costs more than the diagnosis. A water pump, a set of coils or an injector bought on a guess can each cost more than KES 7,500. A proper diagnosis means you buy the right part once, and you know what can safely wait.

Prices are a guide and confirmed when you book. Call-out fees are approximate and should never stop you from reaching out.
